Story
Founded in 1758 in Grasse, Maison Sozio is one of the pioneers of fine French perfumery. It traces its origins to the first families of Grasse perfumers, including the Artaud, Cresp-Girard, Giraud, and Sozio families, who were part of the community of Glove-Perfumers. These families initially worked with raw materials before fully dedicating themselves to perfume creation in the 20th century.
In 1911, Honoré Joseph Sozio and his son Ernest renamed the company J&E SOZIO, marking the beginning of its expansion. In 1979, Robert Moor took over management before passing it on to his son Arnaud Moor in 2004. Today, Sozio is part of the Proxis Développement group, with Arnaud Moor at its helm.
In 2021, the integration of Synarome allowed Sozio to reconnect with its historical activity of raw material production. This acquisition enriched perfumers’ palettes with high-quality ingredients—both natural and synthetic—as well as iconic specialties such as Ambrarome and Animalis.
Sozio partners with HOLISTÆ, a brand born in Hong Kong, which promotes a luxury concept blending artisanal expertise and modernity. HOLISTÆ thus becomes a key player in high-end perfumery in Asia, offering private label creations, exclusive compositions, and a concept store dedicated to bespoke fragrances while preserving the heritage of French perfumery.
OUR PROFESSION: Among others, WE ARE MASTER PERFUMERS
Enriched by the knowledge of our ancestors, heirs to centuries-old expertise, and proud to uphold traditions and ancestral methods, we develop high-quality fragrance compositions, primarily for haute perfumery but also for cosmetics and home fragrances. All our perfumes are created and manufactured in Grasse, in the SOZIO laboratories, guaranteed and validated by our internationally renowned “olfactory composers” and “noses.”
We produce perfume concentrates using traditional methods, blending various aromatic substances and noble raw materials such as vanillin powder, absolutes like jasmine or violet, resinoids like benzoin or myrrh, synthetic molecules derived from natural products such as linalool and geraniol, and essential oils like lavender or bergamot, which are added cold to preserve their full properties—just as we inherited from the archives of our great-great-grandparents.
We offer our clients thousands of formulas developed from natural and synthetic raw materials, studied and accumulated over 192 years.
Today, our quality control laboratory is equipped with the most comprehensive analytical tools:
- Mass spectrometer to analyze, identify, and capture thousands of molecules.
- Gas chromatograph to verify the purity of raw materials and ensure manufacturing compliance with the control sample.

- The European Cosmetic Directive.
- REACH: The European regulation on the registration, evaluation, authorization, and restriction of chemicals imported and manufactured in Europe.
